The Club de Abogados was founded in Spain, in May 1966, in the vanguard of other organizations created for similar purposes. Each country is represented by one of its leading law firms previously chosen and approved. Currently, there are twelve European members and one Japanese member. In 1970 various law firms in Latin America were invited to join the Club de Abogados, forming the Iberoamerican Section. Presently, 21 firms are members of the Club de Abogados - Iberoamerica, including firms from Spain and Portugal. The Club de Abogados - Iberoamerica has a Permanent Secretariat centralized in Brazil to coordinate and develop its activities. A brief presentation of each member of the Club de Abogados - Iberoamerica and a description of the areas covered by each of them are included in this directory. Three basic principles led to the founding of the Club: (i) the organization of the member firms on an institutional basis to preserve their integrity; (ii) the continued modernization of the member firms to enable them to render services to clients on an international level; and (iii) the contribution by all Club members of information on their respective structures and experiences on updated organizational practices, to enable them to provide their clients – particularly multinational companies – with the comprehensive range of services that they demand. Based on these principles, the continuous exchange of experience, information, legal advice and other elements of common interest to the member firms and clients – by means of a structured network set among the Club members – has permitted a continuous improvement and development of their practices. The Club de Abogados - Iberoamerica is an informal organization that represents a model for common work undertaken by law firms of different types, but which in no way affects the integrity or autonomy of its individual members. With 38 years of history already, the Club de Abogados - Iberoamerica is proud that it can boast of more than a quarter of a century of achievements in providing its clients with professional advice for current-day needs in an increasingly global environment, as well as in fostering a variety of joint activities such as seminars, publications and other initiatives, focused on matters of interest for both regional and global markets where its member firms’ clients do business.
